Hey there!

I just uploaded the pictures I took with my cellphone camera in Prague. Hope you like some of them!

I'll try to write a post on Prague tomorrow. Memory is already fading, information was too much, I'm afraid.

Good night,

Hey guys!

I finally found an Internet cafe to check my mails and write a little entry here... Ill make this a short one, not that the cafe isnt comfy, but I think Ill be a lot more creative when back home with my own machine and the opportunitz to post some of the pictures I took with my cellphone.

I just need to say that Prague is one of the most beautyful cities Ive ever seen. We already had a guided tour through the city and today visited the Prague Castle grounds, and still I got the feeling that Ive seen almost nothing.

Well, Ill post everzthing when Im back home. For now, Im off to the bar, having some more of the cheap but delicious czech beer...

Goodness, that’s been another two weeks without a post. I’m getting old. Even worse, I got the feeling that I’m somehow losing focus.

Anyway, I’ll try to give you some kind of allround-update before I leave for Prague.

How I spent my time lately
After I finished that blasted diploma thesis thing, I just leant back and relaxed - probably a bit too much, I guess... Spent loads of time gaming, reading, or just hanging about doing nothing and being a lazy bastard. And slept really long every day. Well, after all I got to do some stuff which I’ll try to summarize below...

SWG account issues
These have been resolved. Edeas got his on-line life back. Obviously there had been a series of chargebacks from my bank account. Instead of just telling me, SOE banned my account. I paid up for it, and got my account back. There I am again. I still didn’t do much, but it’s great to be back, finally. Great thing that Mozz resubscribed, too, and sad that Nisune seems to have sold their account. Apart from that, things are as they used to be. Eden is pretty empty, still...

Gaming: Morrowind
This game is just awesome. Really people, if you’ve never played it before, just do it. I completed the main quest of the original game last week, and I’ve not even seen half of the Vvardenfell district. There’s so much to do, see, kill...
One of the best fantasy RPG’s I ever played on PC, and the one that deserves this label most, for you are indeed absolutely free when chosing your role. Absolutely recommendable! Don’t want to tell too much, but people who like fantasy roleplaying should definitely try!

Trip to Hamburg
On Thursday, Anni and Patrick took me along for a trip to Hamburg. I finally got to see some of the more interesting places I left out when I worked there, such as the “Michel”, as the Hamburgers call the St. Michael’s Church there, plus we visited the “Miniature Wonderland”, the world’s greatest model railroad track. I’m usually absolutely not into model trams and model railroad building and all that jazz, but that thing was most impressive. Anni made some photos there, I hope I can put something up into my gallery once I got them. I only made a few pictures with my cellphone, but since I can’t find my USB cable, I can’t upload them yet.

Star Wars Legends
Stef visited me in Hannover from Thursday evening to today’s afternoon and we (Stef, Malte and me) finally got to play Star Wars: Legends of the Old Republic again, our homemade Star Wars RPG.
I was pretty unprepared, and by god I swear I’ll never be that unprepared again when being storyteller in an RPG session, but in the end it went quite well. I sent them to Concord Dawn to mediate in a conflict between two mandalorian parties...
Gosh, I need more RPG. I’m losing touch.

Misc stuff
The Pipe lives again! I finally tried that Honey Mix stuff, hoping that it’ll not kill me instantly, since I smoke the blasted thing very very very seldom at all. At least it works great! Malte took two pictures that I uploaded to the gallery.

Going to Prague
Little note to everyone who doesn’t know yet: I’ll be unavailable from Monday to Friday since I’m going to Prague with my co-students! Can’t wait to see the castle!
I promise to write more regularly when I’m back!

See you all then!

~ Chris

P.S.: Questionnaire: Most hated
Anni filled out this questionnaire on her LiveJournal. It’s fun, so I did that as well:

MOST HATED...

FRUIT:
Don’t think there’s one. I like fruit, actually. Don’t think there’s one I really hate.

CANDY:
Mmh, almost as difficult as with fruits. I don’t share one of the usual candy dislikes like licorice, peppermint or marzipan. It’s difficult to hate candy.

BEVERAGE (non-alcoholic):
Energy Drinks like Red Bull or similar.

COLOR:
A COLOR I hate, yes? Now this is getting stupid. you can’t hate a color. I would not wear pink, but I don’t hate it.

TOWN/CITY:
I can’t write this here, would probably get kicked out of my job :P

TV SHOW:
Lots of them. All these new “telenovelas”, talkshows, “Wer wird Millionär?” with Günther-soooooo-cool-Jauch, and sooooo much of the stuff that I could fill pages with it. It’s easy to hate TV shows…

MOVIE:
Everything Star Trek, everything Jackie Chan, all these damn trendy gay comedy flicks, the buttload of sooo-cute animated movies by pixar and similar…

ASPECT OF MYSPACE:
What exactly is myspace for? And what aspects are there?

ANIMAL:
Sometimes, it’s dogs. But then again, there are also dogs I’ve come to like. I can’t stand these little barkers that do more resemble a rat than a dog. I also don’t like dogs’ attitude, guess I’m more a cat person.
But well, there are nice dogs, too.

INSECT:
Mosquitos/Gnats. Everything that’s got a sting and leaves you an annoying ITCH.

BIRD:
I really don’t hate birds. Pigeons can be annoying, I guess.

SEASON:
At least fall is the one season I like the least, but there’s things about fall I do like indeed. But since it’s got the biggest share of bad weather, means rain combined with cold, I guess it’s fall. Still, I feel uncomfy about the hate thing. Can’t say that frequently enough.

AGE OF KIDS:
That bit between being a droll little bundle of joy and a reasonable, grown-up adult.

WHAT ANNOYS YOU MORE THAN ANYTHING WHEN DRIVING?
Insufficient co-drivers. There’s two categories of them: First, the nervous, twitching, frightened ones and second the silent ones. Because one of the first category will be my death one day, causing an car crash by distracting me with an unforeseen sudden panicked movement, and the second category because if I take someone along, I think I deserve to be entertained by them.

EATING IN RESTAURANTS:
Impatient people who can’t relax, always push and complain and people who have no manners.

GOING THROUGH DRIVE-THRUS:
That’s pretty cool apart from the part when you unwrap your cheeseburger just to fing out that it’s WITH pickle and onions even though you ordered it without.

AT THE MALL:
When I again go there to get something I urgently need at the last minute and find out that it’s sold out... And when I’m already late and there’s a looooong queue at the box.

SLEEPING:
Well, waking up one hour before the alarm will go; being woken up too early; not getting enough sleep at all...

SHOWERING:
When I’m having a long, refreshing and relaxing shower and the hot water is out before I finished.

AT THE BEACH:
Sunburn. Sticky sun lotion combined with sand. And in some cases noisy people always shooting their ball/Frisbee/whatever in my direction when I’m trying to relax.

YOU'RE AT THE GROCERY STORE:
Same as at the mall. When I’m having guests in the evening and don’t get the ingredients for the dinner I prepare.

COOKING OR BAKING:
Other people in MY kitchen! For when I make food, it’s MY kitchen, and I need room. People are allowed to sit nearby and make conversation, and some very close friends are even allowed to participate in the cooking or baking process.

WHAT HOUSEHOLD CHORE DO YOU HATE THE MOST?
Everything concerning dirt.

WHAT DO YOU THINK WOULD BE THE ABSOLUTE WORST WAY TO DIE?
Unconcious, without knowing.

WHAT'S THE MOST ANNOYING HABIT IN OTHERS?
Being like me.

WHAT IS YOUR WORST HABIT?
I’m stuck-up, arrogant and pretty convinced of myself.

WHAT FASHION TREND (PAST OR PRESENT) HAVE YOU HATED THE MOST?
Caipirinha. „Latte“. Sneakers outside a gym or sports field.

WHAT POPULAR SONG (PAST OR PRESENT) HAVE YOU HATED THE MOST?
Everything coming from wannabe-profound German bands like “Wir sind Helden” and that kind of stuff. There was one song I really came to hate, roundabout going like this: “Bitte gib mir nur ein OH” and so on. That’s really annoying.

WORST OR MOST HATED PICKUP LINE:
What the hell is a pickup line? Gotta do some serious googling.
Ah. got to do something with flirting, right? Mh. For unknown reasons, I’ve not been approached with one for quite some time...

WORST THING ABOUT HIGH SCHOOL:
Well, the school part...

MOST IRRITATING THING ABOUT YOUR CAR:
That I don’t have one. That irritates me a lot.

TO BE COMPLETELY STEREOTYPICAL, WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE MOST ANNOYING THING ABOUT GIRLS?
Girls aren’t annoying. I think.

TO BE COMPLETELY STEREOTYPICAL, WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE MOST ANNOYING THING ABOUT GUYS?
That trying too hard to be cool sometimes...

WHAT IS ANNOYING YOU TODAY?
Soccer. As it did all the week. And the week before.

Aaaaalright, me did it. I needed some time to get myself back together, that's why I didn't post immediately after I got rid of that diploma thesis issue...

Well, now here I am. I posted the blasted thing on wednesday afternoon. Now I'm all back. My lesson's time table for the next week is a bit tight, I'll be underway from 6 a.m. to about 6 p.m. every day, but in exchange I got an almost free week after that.

Anyway, finally I got time for everything else again. At the moment I'm just trying to relax as good as possible. Later today we'll be off to Kassel for my uncle's birthday barbecue. I'll try to post from down there too later on.

All in all there's loads of things to do. Can't wait to spring back to action...

See you all very soon,

~ Chris

Getting close

I'm getting closer and closer. I think I'll have this more or less finished within the next two hours. The greatest inconvience at the moment is the natural feeling of having forgotten important details... every time I stumble upon things that I've left out, be it because I had to throw one or few things out because they didn't fit, or that I just didn't come across the thought so far, I feel an urge to check back on the books.

Guess I won't get much sleep tonight...

Laters,

Why is it always ME?

I learned today that my employers never received my wage tax card, or whatever it is called in english... So that'S the reason why I didn't receive a cent of this month's eranings. Result is, that my mobile phone provider, health insurance and whoever else tried to charge my bank account with the usual monthly bills. Since that bank account remained empty, there was a chargeback for every single transaction.

Gosh, that will cost me a damn lot of money... plus it already cost me a lot of time to get to the public whossname to get a new wage tax card.

Guess that means I won't finish my diploma thesis today before late evening. Which means, that I can't get the binding before tomorrow, which places me in a great risk of not being able to post it in time. Well, might be that I overreact a bit. At least the guy who runs the copy shop assured me that he can bind the thing in half an hour.

*shrug*

We'll see. I'm back at work, see you later...

Final spurt

Alright, I got two more days. Not quite two more, if I don't count the time it takes to have it bound.

Well, I'm starting to calm down. I gave everything during the last week and will keep working hard until the last minute. For today, I'm done. I'm just having a cuppa tea and a nice chat and then'll be off to bed.

I made an interesting discovery on the internet. It's about the old german shisha tobacco issue. Few months ago, laws changed and forbid importing tobacco with more than a certain amount of moisture in it. Result was, shisha tobacco hereabout was too dry and tasted crappy. Some people started adding pure glycerin to the tobacco - unnecessary to say that this is quite a bit unhealthy.

Well, to cut a long story short, there is a mixture of honey, molasses and glycerin which is used for moisturing the tobacco, doesn't cost much and cuts down the glycerin concentration in the finished tobacco significantly. As all the forums say, to a far less harmful level. Of course, smoking will always be unhealthy, but at least with this stuff you don't take a higher risk than when smoking cigarettes, which I, as you know, never did anyway.

I guess I give that thing a try. Sounds too good not to try - I think I'll have a word with my doc before or so...

See you all,

~ Chris

Good news and bad news

Deadline's so damn close...

Sorry that I've been quiet for such a damn long time, but I was really busy with that evil evil evil thing called diploma thesis. It's a real pain, still, and deadline's approaching way too fast.

At the moment I'm trying desperately to get something at least half-decent done. All I want is to pass that exam, no need for me too be especially good or something.

Me and my bloody miscalculations.

Well, good news is, once it's over, I'll have more time for my friends again, and damn, I need more time with my friends. Desperately.

Cross fingers for me, I'll need to work through the whole weekend. And there's still the matter of binding, which will take at least a few hours too.

Bah.

We'll see... I'll give my very best to the end and then see what I get out.

Going mad

chris
Coronet WishClean I'm starting to go mad. The hopes I'm going to pass these exams (including the diploma thesis) are constantly fading. At least I put work into it over the past weeks, but still I cannot deny the fact that I bloody well started my efforts way too late. And know what really sucks? Still I'm unable to find someone else to blame. I screwed, and I'll need to take the responsibility. All I can do now is work as hard as possible and hope that I'm lucky once more and slip through. That's the moments when I'd give a lot for not being such a lazy bastard. No, lazy isn't the right word, but you know what I mean. Inattentive. Sloppy. Whatever.

Oh, and my family are coming back from Kassel today, so I just cleaned up the house. Made a funny discovery there; Star Wars geeks, eyes to the left. The lovely cleaning agent I use for the bathroom floor and that always makes my hands itching and stuff is called Coronet. Heh. I wish I could offer something more funny, but I was indeed amused for a few moments.

I wonder if I should already mentally prepare to go through all that stuff with the exams and the diploma thesis again next year, or if that'd be too close to giving up. You know me, I don't like giving up. Being persistent in what I do, if I like it or not, is one of the things that I always insisted of; giving up is something I hate, even more than admitting a failure or mistake.

Guess I better get back to work. Thanks for listening.

~ Chris

-EDIT-

Almost forgot that: Found it funny to upload my passport photographs of the last five years to my gallery. Have fun!
